Each Fall, StudyBuddy attends the workshop the College Board gives to update information on the tests they administer. This year the workshop kicked off with some interesting statistics from a survey they did: 71% of high-school students believe they're going to college. 51% of parents of high-school students believe their kids are going to college. Special Ed families who attended the August meeting of the Community Advisory Committee heard Diana Blackmon speak of the contract between the California Department of Education and Educational Testing Service to provide an alternative, for profoundly disabled kids, to Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR). Accommodating Learning Disabilities and ADHD
A new series a the main public library (100 Larkin at Grove) is generating interest. The identification of students with learning disabilities and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is on the increase, and although there is plenty of information available, families can use a helping-hand getting access to it. ED Speak: Making Sense of What Educators Say
The newsletter put out by Support for Families of Children with Disabilities (SFCD) this Fall has a special insert called ED Speak. StudyBuddy has permission to share it with you. It's subtitled "Making Sense of Terms Educators Use" and it's often where our talks with parents begin.
